UDD Manager (E19) – Closes 2/10
The City of Albuquerque Planning Department is looking for a dynamic and experienced leader to manage the Urban Design & Development (UDD) Division. UDD is composed of three sections: Current Planning, Mid Range Planning, and Long Range Planning. UDD staffs the Environmental Planning Commission, Zoning Hearing Examiner, and the Landmarks Commission; manages place-based projects and planning in communities throughout the city in coordination with implementing departments and agencies; and provides long-range planning with the community that results in updates to the Comprehensive Plan and Integrated Development Ordinance. We are looking for an experienced leader who is committed to equitable planning, capacity-building, and leading a group of intelligent and dedicated employees. Ideal candidates will have extensive experience in planning and urban design, land use administration, governmental relations, and project management. Bilingual applicants are highly encouraged.
Current Planning – M15 Planner – Closes 2/11
The City of Albuquerque Planning Department is looking for a dynamic, team-oriented individual to join the Current Planning Team. This person must have strong analytical thinking and writing skills and be capable of balancing big-picture vision and policy thinking with project-level details. Regular tasks include analyzing zone change requests, reviewing site plans, writing staff reports, collaborating with applicants and interested members of the public, and presenting at public hearings. The preferred applicant will have experience in urban planning, technical writing, development review, and case management, as well as strong interpersonal skills. The ability to speak well in public and meet deadlines is also desired.
Mid Range Planning – M15 Planner – Closes 2/11
The City of Albuquerque’s Planning Department is looking for 4 planners to create a new Mid Range Planning team to complement our Current Planning and Long Range Planning teams. This team will be responsible for helping to manage or coordinate place-based projects and planning efforts with implementing departments and agencies in specific Community Planning Areas. We are looking for urban planners committed to community engagement and cross-agency collaboration. Applicants should have some experience in community development, governmental relations, and project management. Bilingual applicants are highly encouraged.
Long Range Planning – M13 Associate Planner – Closes 2/10
The City of Albuquerque’s Planning Department is looking for an entry-level planner to join our Long Range Planning team. This team is responsible for community planning throughout the city, coordinated with regular updates to the City’s comprehensive plan and zoning code. We are looking for an urban planner committed to equity and inclusion with strong writing and graphic skills. This position will provide on-the-job experience in community engagement, data analysis, and the development of policy and zoning regulations to help us translate community input into documents that lead to more equitable outcomes citywide.
